Etymology. The species is named after Gongsun Sheng, one of the 108 outlaws in the classical Chinese literature Outlaws of the Marsh; noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The female of the new species is similar to S. hainan Zhang, Fu & Zhu, 2009 (see Zhang & Fu, 2010) by the extremely enlarged epigynal hood, but it can be distinguished by the hood being longer than wide ( vs. as long as wide in S. hainan ).
Description. Male ( holotype). Total length 6.32; carapace 2.20 long, 1.81 wide, opisthosoma 4.12 long, 2.28 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.12, ALE 0.15, PME 0.15, PLE 0.14, AME–AME 0.05, AME–ALE 0.04, PME–PME 0.03, PME–PLE 0.06, AME–PME 0.07, ALE–PLE 0.08. Chelicerae with three promarginal and eight retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 6.52 (1.81, 2.34, 1.32, 1.05), II 5.60 (1.61, 1.90, 1.12, 0.97), III 4.75 (1.31, 1.53, 1.11, 0.80), IV 7.67 (2.05, 2.53, 1.98, 1.11). Leg spination: III tibia 2-2v, metatarsus 1-1v; IV tibia 4pv, 2rv, metatarsus 2-2v.
Coloration ( Fig. 14C View Figure 14 ). Carapace, chelicerae, endites, labium and sternum dark brown. Legs brown. Opisthosoma oval, grey with black setae. Spinnerets short, yellow.
Epigyne ( Fig. 12 View Figure 12 ). Hood oval-rectangular. Copulatory openings in hood. Spermathecae posteriorly located, large, globose; gland anteriorly located, smaller, globose; a short connecting tube between gland and spermatheca.
Male. Unknown.
Material examined. Holotype ♀ (IZCAS-Ar43845), Vietnam: Hai Phong, Cat Ba National Park, Natural Forest , 1–30 March 2008, Dinh-Sac Pham leg. Paratypes. 2♀ (IZCAS-Ar43846, Ar43847), same data as holotype .
Distribution. Known only from the type locality.
