Type data: Holotype female (ZMHB). Examined.

Type locality: Alegrete , Brazil.

Comments and Diagnosis. Stenosigma allegrum , the type species of the genus, was transferred from Eumenes by Giordani Soika (1978). The species is easily recognized by the pronotal carina without an evident lamella ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13–18. 13, 14 ) and by the dense and deep punctation of the pronotum and mesepisternum ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 19–24. 19 ). Additionally, S. allegrum has the typical blackish and brownish color of the integument ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1–6 ) also present in the species S. humerale and S. quechua , but differs from these by having the lateral margins of T1 distinctly fused ventrally in the basal portion ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 25–30. 25–27 ). The species was first reported from “Allegretto” ( type locality) and Nova Teutonia—both localities in southern Brazil. However, its distribution is apparently broader with new collection records in the southeast of the country ( Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo and São Paulo).
