Note. Karawajew (1927) described this variety from numerous workers with the given collection numbers 2495 and 2966. However, the collection contains one worker with the collection number 2495 and numerous workers and even gynes and males collected in the type locality with numbers 2462, 2509 and 5292, and with Karawajew’s original labels “ Polyrhachis / (Myrmhopla) / dives var. rectispina / Karav. typus”. We cannot explain this discrepancy and assume that Karawajew, for some unknown reason, did not mention this material in the original article. Based on Recommendation 72B of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN 1999), we conclude that all workers are part of the type series, but gynes and males cannot be syntypes since this species was described based only on workers.
