Original material: as replaced synonym.

Current name: Dorstenia contrajerva L. View in CoL ( Moraceae ).

Note: This appears to be a nomen novum at specific rank for D. contrajerva var. houstonii L. (1753) . Both names appear to have been based on an illustrated account by Houstoun. Although Berg (in Harling & Andersson, Fl. Ecuador 60: 116. 1998; Fl. Neotropica 83: 198. 2001) indicated Houstoun s.n. (BM) as the holotype, it is most unlikely that Linnaeus could have seen this material and, with the existence of a cited illustration as original material, the Houstoun collection cannot serve as a neotype.
