Note: Pringle (in Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 44: 2. 1967) indicated unspecified material in BM as the type, while Ho & Liu (in Worldw. Monogr. Gentiana : 302. 2001) indicated Clayton material (BM) as the holotype (which it is not). Unfortunately, the absence of "designated here" or an equivalent (Art. 7.11) precludes this statement from being accepted as a formal typification.
