Discussion A single, rather poorly preserved otolith from the early Pleistocene of Bastimentos Island, Atlantic Panama, of 2.8 mm in length shows a mild middorsal indentation. Tis could either represent a somewhat unusual variation of a known extant Atlantic species such as B. communis or indicate that species of the Bollmannia stigmatura otolith plexus which nowadays is restricted to the East Pacific also existed in the West Atlantic until the Gelasian.
