Material 8 specimens Calabrian , Cumaná FM , Venezuela, PPP 3038 (figured specimens NMB P15801-02 View Materials ) .

Discussion Te specimens retrieved from the Calabrian of the Cumaná FM ( Fig. 39k–l View Fig ) match well its extant counterpart ( Fig. 39j View Fig ) in otolith proportions and the low sulcus inclination angle (11–12°). Smaller specimens differ in a relatively small and less structured sulcus

( Fig. 39l View Fig ). Today, C. tortugae does not seem to occur so far south in the Caribbean at the coast of Venezuela.
