Discussion Tis small otolith resembles Elacatinus sp. 2 but has an even smaller sulcus (OL:SuL = 2.65) which is also somewhat forward positioned. It further differs in the more strongly inclined sulcus (22° vs 10°). It thus resembles the extant E. puncticulatus ( Fig. 37g View Fig ) which, however, has a distinctly larger sulcus.
