Publications per research theme
Most studies were classified into two themes, Mating preferences (314) and Mating success (180) ( Fig. 4 View Figure 4 ). The other three categories (Selection analysis, Signal recognition and Others), together, summed up only 77 studies. A few records were considered multidisciplinary (46) and were included in more than one research theme.
