Notes
Similar to I. dolosus and I. ignobilis . Berthoumieu (1894) reports the species as hibernating and refers to Tischbein, but this original record could not be found. Probably he refers to Tischbein's report of I. perhiematus , which was considered a variety at that time. One uncertain record exists of a specimen in Sweden (GBIF). Morley (1903) mentions it is common there and hibernates below moss, but this statement could not be found in the original description of Zetterstedt (1838), nor in the comments of Holmgren (1864).
Status: Confirmed.
Records: France (1), Germany (3), Russia (2).
First record: 1915-1922 ( Seyrig (1923), France).
Hibernacula: DTCL (1), M (3), U (4).
Sources: Seyrig (1923), Bauer (1984) [ Ichneumon walkeri W.], Sebald et al. (2000), Schmidt and Zmudzinski (2005).
Also mentioned in: Berthoumieu (1894), Morley (1903), Heinrich (1949 b) [ I. eremitatorius Zett. ], Constantineanu (1959) [ I. eremitatorius Zett. ], Rasnitsyn (1964) [ I. eremitatorius Zett. ].
