Etymology: For Rob Van Soest, in recognition of his enormous contribution to sponge taxonomy, including Calcarea.
Diagnosis: Dendyidae that grow in the form of an individual ascon tube. Tere is no anastomosis or ramification. Only the cortical skeleton is present, which includes microdiactines.
