Genus Achenium Leach, 1819 View in CoL
Achenium depressum ( Gravenhorst, 1802) View in CoL Lathrobium depressum Gravenhorst, 1802: 182 View in CoL
Described from “LusitAniA” (= Portugal) by Gravenhorst (1802). Oliveira (1893) refers this species from Azambuja. Reported from Portugal with no precise localities by Horion (1965). Gamarra & Outerelo (2007, 2020) reported this species from Beira Litoral and Ribatejo.
New data: Beira Litoral, Leiria, Ansião, Avelar, CabeÇa Gorda , 15/08/1967, 1 ex., leg. R . N. Ferreira ( cRNF) .
Note: Assing (2010a) stated that ́The original description of A. depressum is based on an unspecified number of type specimens from “LusitAniA Mus. Com. de HoffmAnsegg” ( Gravenhorst, 1802). Two syntypes, a male and a female, were located in the collections of the MNHUB. The male is designated as the lectotype. Based on the morphology of the aedeagus and on the available zoogeographic data, there is some doubt as to whether the type specimen really originated from Portugal. The aedeagus is more similar to that of material from Italy than to the Spanish populations, and A. depressum has never again been mentioned from Portugal », that ́ The aedeagus is on average larger in material from Italy and Portugal.» and that ́The reddish coloration of the elytra is usually more extensive in material from Italy, Portugal, central Spain ». The specimen from CabeÇa Gorda studied here has the elytra almost totally reddish .
Distribution: Widespread in Europe (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).
Achenium hartungii Wollaston, 1854 View in CoL Achenium hartungii Wollaston, 1854: 587 View in CoL
Boieiro et al. (1999) reported it from Tavira (Algarve). Assing (2010a) recorded this species from “Alges” (presumAbly Algés, in Lisbon, Oeiras), 1 ♂ (abdominal apex dark) ( cNHMW), Évora, 4/11/1963, 1 ♂ (abdominal apex reddish), leg. Engholt & Martin ( cNHMD and cAss) and 1 ex. with locality not specified ( cIRSNB), but Gamarra & Outerelo (2020) only reported it from Algarve .
Distribution: Known from Portugal and Spain, and also from Morocco and Madeira Island (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).
Achenium impressiventre Koch, 1937 View in CoL Achenium impressiventre Koch, 1937: 113 View in CoL

Distribution: Known from Morocco, Portugal and Spain (Sch̡lke & Smetana, 2015).
