Notes: Dutta and Borthakur (2016) described P. curviflorus var. menchanensis View in CoL from Northeast India and compared it with P. curviflorus View in CoL . However, the characters given for “ P. curviflorus var. curviflorus View in CoL ” by Dutta and Borthakur ( l.c.) are identical to P. tubiflorus View in CoL . Mehmud et al. (2023) synonymised it under P. curviflorus View in CoL . The authors, however, misapplied the name P. curviflorus View in CoL and the correct identity of their “ P. curviflorus View in CoL ” is also P. tubiflorus View in CoL . The synonymization of P. curviflorus var. menchanensis View in CoL , under P. curviflorus View in CoL by Mehmud et al. (2023) is thus incorrect. Detailed studies on the type specimen of P. curviflorus var. menchanensis View in CoL at GUBH, revealed no significant differences with P. tubiflorus View in CoL , therefore it is reduced here as a new synonym of the latter.
