Remarks: Five specimens were examined in this study ( Tables 3, S 1). Scorpaena pepo is closely related to S. onaria occurring in Taiwan, but it can be distinguished from S. onaria by its 16 pectoral-fin rays ( Table 3) ( Motomura et al. 2007).
