Paratype: CGAS Pla 8.1, ibid., one set of sagittal sections on four slides of an anterior portion of a specimen originating after fission in the field .
Etymology
The specific epithet is derived from the Latin adjective granosus, full of grains and alludes to the pigmented dorsal and ventral body surfaces.
Diagnosis
Dugesia granosa is characterized by the presence of the following features: asymmetrical openings of the oviducts, with the left oviduct opening into the common atrium; presence of well-developed ectal reinforcement, extending from the vaginal area almost to the copulatory bursa; conical penis papilla; central course of the ejaculatory duct with terminal opening; elongate seminal vesicle; openings of the vasa deferentia in the anterior section of the seminal vesicle; large diaphragm positioned halfway along the length of the penis papilla.
