Thlaspidula sarinoi Budi & Świętojańska , sp. nov.
( Figures 5–8 View FIGURES 4–5 View FIGURES 6–8 )
Type locality. Indonesia, Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Sigi, Kulawi, Namo , approx. S: 01°25’32.7’’E:119°53’83.8”, 1390 m a.s.l.
Type material ( Figures 5–8 View FIGURES 4–5 View FIGURES 6–8 ). Holotype, pinned: male, ‘Central Sulawesi— Indonesia | Sigi—Kulawi | Namo — 24.xi.2017 | Sarino || HOLOTYPE | Thlaspidula | sarinoi sp. nov. | Budi & Świętojańska 2024’ (deposited at the Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense, Bogor, Indonesia) .
Diagnosis. T. sarinoi sp. nov. with T. boisduvali (Boheman) and T. gandangdewata sp. nov. belongs to the group of species with presence of only posterolateral spots on the explanate margin of the elytra, without humeral spots. It differs from both congeners in elytral pattern with humeral spots merged with posterolateral band (separated in congeners) and scutellum with broadly brown to black margins (uniformly yellow in congeners). T. sarinoi differs from T. gandangdewata also in distinctly micropectinate claws and elongate mandibles. T. sarinoi is larger from both congeners with pronotum width above 5.5 mm (below 5.4 mm in T. boisduvali and T. gandangdewata ).
Description. Length: 7.9 mm, width: 7.3 mm, length of pronotum: 2.7 mm, width of pronotum: 5.6 mm, length/ width ratio: 1.08, width/length of pronotum ratio: 2.07 (n = 2).
Pronotum yellow, disc at base with two small dark brown to black triangular spots, basal margin of disc darkened. Scutellum brown to black with yellow spot in the middle at the anterior margin. Elytral disc dark brown with yellow spots: two large spots in anterior half of disc, two small spots behind postscutellar elevation not connected with large anterior spots, two small spots in the middle connected with yellow lateral margins, two large posterior spots extending to the apical margin. Punctures located in area of yellow spots black. Explanate margin of elytra mostly yellow, with broad dark brown to black posterolateral spots, humeral spots absent. Clypeus, ventrites and legs yellow. Antennae yellow, segment 5–11 slightly infuscate.
Pronotum broad, widest slightly behind middle, disc regularly convex, distinctly separated from explanate margin, each side is separated from the explanate margin by two distinct borders of impressions, one smaller in the area above head, one larger close to base. Explanate margin very broad, almost horizontal. Elytral disc and explanate margin surface smooth and glabrous, impunctate.
Scutellum triangular. Base of elytra distinctly wider than pronotum, humeral angles strongly protruding anterad, angulate. Elytral disc strongly convex, distinctly elevated in postscutellar area without forming tubercles. Punctation of the disc is regular only in the dark part, punctures are broken in the anterior relief and sparser in the posterior relief. Punctures in rows quite dense, distance between punctures as wide as diameter. Intervals slightly convex, as wide as, to twice wider than rows, second interval thrice as wide as rows. Marginal row distinct, its punctures larger than in central rows, space between punctures slightly elevated, forming short transverse folds. Explanate margin very broad, widest part slightly narrower than width of each elytron, almost horizontal. Whole surface of disc and explanate margin glabrous.
Clypeus narrow, almost as long as wide, shallowly impressed along middle, smooth and glabrous. Labrum broad, deeply impressed on sides. Mandibles elongated. Prosternal process broad, strongly expanded apically, shallowly impressed in middle, bottom of impression indistinctly granulate. Antennae in male slim and long, third segment almost twice as long as second, fourth segment 1.3x as long as third, 10 th segment 3.7x as long as wide, last segment 9.2x as long as wide. Claws large, distinctly micropectinate.
Distribution. Indonesia (Sulawesi).
Etymology. The epithet “ sarinoi ” is taken from the name Sarino, field collector of the holotype and also staff at the Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (MZB).
