Tropihypnus rungbongi Stibick, 1968: 172 (original description; published type locality: Rungbong Vall., India; another locality- India: Sikkim); Mukhopadhyay & Chakraborty, 2003: 219 (catalogue; India: “ Sikkim ”); Cate, 2007: 167 (catalogue; “SD” as India: Sikkim, Darjeeling District); Schimmel & Tarnawski, 2008: 655 (catalogue; “ India: Darjeeling”); Gupta et al., 2018: 501 (catalogue; “2C” as India: Sikkim, Darjeeling District).

Type Locality. India: Rungbong valley, Gopaldhara, Darjeeling District , West Bengal [Rungbong Vall., Gopaldhara, Sikkim] .

Type Depository. Holotype, M ( NHML) ; Allotype, F ( NHML); 155 Paratypes, 84 M, 71 F ( NHML, PERC).

Distribution in India. Sikkim (Gangtok District), West Bengal (Darjeeling District).

General Distribution. China, India, Nepal ( Cate 2007; Schimmel & Tarnawski 2008).

Remark. The type material may be housed in PERC, but verification was not possible.
