remarks This species needs verification as no direct match between literature and collection lots is available.
Mateussi et al. (2018) only recently revalidated Mylossoma unimaculatum from the synonymy with M. duriventre and restricted the distribution of the latter to the La Plata basin. Hence, we have included collection lots listed for Maranhão as M. duriventre here under M. unimaculatum .
