Around 1990, a woman with a dead Dolichophis schmidti stabbed onto and twisted around a stick was witnessed standing along the road from Iğdır to Doğubayazıt at the sideway to Kavaktepe ( J. Mulder, not previously published). This locality is one kilometer across the border in the province of Ağrı. This probably is the first find of this species in that province .
