Calea parvifolia ( Candolle 1836: 670–671) Baker (1884: 259–260) View in CoL .
Meyeria parvifolia Candolle (1836: 670–671) .
Lectotype (designated here):— BRAZIL. São Paulo-Paraná: 1828–1829, F. Sellow s.n. ( P [ P02140753 ]!; isolectotype B, destroyed, photo in F [ F244778 ], digital image!; G [ G00456484 ], digital image!).
Note:—The syntypes of C. parvifolia were found in P and G herbaria. The specimen deposited in B was lost in a fire during World War II ( Grimé & Plowman 1986), but a photograph of it is available at F. The type specimen of this species was interpreted as collected by C. Gaudichaud-Beaupré, whereas it was in fact collected by F. Sellow ( Moraes 2020) and later incorporated in his personal herbarium. The precise locality of this collection was also difficult to identify. The available data does not allow us to map the precise locality nor can the collection year be ascertained. To reflect this uncertainty, we present the range of possible years and the collection locality as the border between the states of Paraná and São Paulo, as discussed for C. marginata . Pruski (2023) considered P02140753 as a holotype, but the existence of F244778 and G00456484 implies that these materials were syntypes. Thus, we designate the specimen deposited in P as the lectotype, since the duplicate deposited in G is incomplete.
The specimen Dusén 2809 deposited in F [F0 BN015383 View Materials ] displays the name Calea paranensis , which was never published (nom. in sched.). This specimen is actually C. parvifolia .
