Diagnosis: Small sized (3.84 mm), yellow coloured fly with continuous costal band and four transverse bands ( Figs 1–5 View FIGURES 1–5 ). It can be differentiated from O. dorsocentralis Zia by the absence of presutural dorsocentral seta and presence of three black spots in pterostigma; from O. japonica Shiraki by the absence of hyaline indentation in cell r 1 and absence of presutural dorsocentral seta; from O. nauniensis Maneesh & Hancock by the scutal, abdominal colouration and absence of hyaline indentation in cell r 1.

Description: Male (3.78 mm). Head higher than long, frons broad, parallel sided, yellow/fulvous with three pairs of frontal setae, 1 pair of orbital setae, bases of ocellar setae, lateral vertical, medial vertical visible, post ocellar seta white, post ocular white and stubby. Face concave without any markings, parafacial broad, gena with genal seta prominent. Antenna shorter than face, all segments yellow, first flagellomere less than half of face, arista short pilose. Scutum yellowish orange with broad, black circles around bases of dorsocentral setae, prescutellar acrostichal setae, intra-alar setae, narrow emargination around pre and postsutural supra-alar setae, postalar seta, anterior and posterior notopleural seta. Anepisternum fulvous with a single seta posteriorly near the suture, anepimeron without seta, katepistenum with single seta, anatergite and katatergite brown. Scutellum yellow, slightly swollen with four prominent black spots and two pairs of scutellar setae. Mediotergite dark brown, haltere yellow. Legs with all segments yellow without any black markings. Forefemur with 7 stout ventral setae. Wing (3. 89 mm long), hyaline with yellow transverse and longitudinal bands, basal cells fuscous except for hyaline markings in cell sc and cell bm, cells bc fuscous, cell c fuscous basally and apically with a broad medial hyaline region, cell sc/pterostigma fuscous with three prominent black spots; one at the end of vein Sc, other two near costal margin. Vein R 1 setose throughout, without gap opposite of end of Sc, costal band continuous extending from cell sc to wing apex reaching cell m. Three transverse bands present; subcostal band prominent reaching anal margin, discal band joined with subapical band forming an inverted V-shaped band, anterior apical band fused with costal band. Material examined: Holotype 1♂, INDIA: Jammu & Kashmir, Charar-i-Sharief , 12. v. 2008, Shakti, K. Singh (NIM)

Etymology: The species is named after late Dr. Amnon Freidberg, for his immense contributions in taxonomy of Tephritinae

Remarks: The abdomen of specimen was glued to the card, hence postabdominal structures were not dissected as it can damage the specimen.
