Summary. The East Asian longhorn beetle Semanotus bifasciatus ( Motschulsky, 1875) ( Coleoptera : Cerambycidae ) is recorded for the first time in Europe. The species was founded in 2024 within the city of Mariupol (DPR, Russia) and has been recognized as a dangerous pest of Cupressaceae in urban environments, causing the death of large mature trees. Brief diagnostic characters, illustrations, information on geographical distribution, biology and the extent of harmful impact of S. bifasciatus are provided.
