Type host: the neotype specimen was collected by drag
Comments: Spielman et al. (1979) named the type female as a “ lectotype,” but there are no syntype specimens of Ixodes scapularis ; consequently, the specimen selected is a neotype, as noted by Keirans & Clifford (1984).
