Schulze, P. (1935) Zur vergleichenden Anatomie der Zecken. Zeitschrift für Morphologie und Ökologie der Tiere, 30, 1–40.

Type depositories: ZMB?: paralectotypes (females and a nymph) ( Schulze 1935a); USNTC: a lectotype (female) and a paralectotype (female) were designated by Apanaskevich & Schenk (2020).

Type locality: Weyland Mountains , Province of Papua, Indonesia

Type host: Phascogale sp.

Comments: Schulze (1935a) stated that type specimens of Ixodes steini had been deposited in the ZMB, but they are not listed in the catalog of ZMB types, and from the original description, some specimens are thought to be held in the USNTC ( Apanaskevich & Schenk, 2020). In the event that type specimens of Ixodes steini are eventually found in the ZMB, they should be considered paralectotypes.
