tetracornus Kitaoka & Suzuki, 1983 , Rhipicephalus
Kitaoka, S. & Suzuki, H. (1983) Studies on the parasite fauna of Thailand 5. Parasitic ticks on mammals and description of Ixodes siamensis sp. n. and Rhipicephalus tetracornus sp. n. ( Acarina : Ixodidae ). Tropical Medicine, 25, 205–219.
Type depository: NSM: holotype (nymph) and paratypes (nymphs)
Type locality: Doi Inthanon , Thailand
Type host: Rattus nitidus
Comments: a male, female and nymphs of the type series of Rhipicephalus tetracornus were lost in the mail ( Kitaoka & Suzuki 1983). Also, it is uncertain whether the larva depicted by these authors in the original description actually belongs to this species. Walker et al. (2000) treat Rhipicephalus tetracornus as a name incertae sedis, while Horak et al. (2002) and Kolonin (2009) did not include this species in their lists of ticks of the world, but Camicas et al. (1998), Guglielmone & Nava (2014) and Guglielmone et al. (2009, 2010, 2014, 2020, 2023) consider Rhipicephalus tetracornus valid.
