Type depository: ZMB: a lectotype (male) and a paralectotype (male) were designated by Nava et al. (2014b) Type locality: Mexico

Type host: unknown

Comments: Moritz & Fischer (1981) recognized the presence of two males in the ZMB but stated that Koch used only one male to describe Amblyomma tenellum , regarding that specimen as the holotype of this species, a view not supported by Nava et al. (2014b).
