Type depositories: MZB: holotype (male) and paratypes (males and females) ; BMNH? and USNTC: paratypes (males and females)
Type locality: Tjabang Pasjik , Lampong District, Sumatra, Indonesia
Type host: Sus scrofa vittatus
Comments: Hoogstraal et al. (1971) listed the BMNH as the depository of paratypes of Haemaphysalis sumatraensis , but Keirans & Hillyard (2001) stated that there is no indication that the specimens arrived at that museum.
