Type host: Arvicanthis abyssinicus nubilans thompsoni Arthur, 1955 , Ixodes
Arthur, D. R. (1955) New species of ticks ( Ixodes ) associated with small mammals. Parasitology, 45, 131–140. Type depositories: BMNH: holotype?, paratype? (female) ( Keirans & Hillyard 2001)
Type locality: Lundy Island , England, Great Britain
Type host: cat
Current status: a synonym of Ixodes ventalloi ( Gilot & Pérez 1978, Camicas et al. 1978).
Comments: Arthur (1955) stated that Ixodes thompsoni was described from three females (holotype and paratypes) deposited in the G.B. Thompson Collection, but Keirans & Hillyard (2001) found two specimens in a vial deposited in the BMNH, one of them identified as Ixodes ricinus , it being unclear whether the remaining female is the original holotype or a paratype.
