Type depository: OVI: syntypes (females)

Type localities: Gibeon and Mariental, Namibia ; Bothaville, Ficksburg and Onderstepoort, South Africa

Type hosts: Creatophora carunculata, Hirudo rustica, migratory swallow, Quelea sanguinirostris lathami and “vink”

Comments: Walker (1991) and Horak et al. (2018) listed Ixodes theilerae as described in 1958, but it was described in Arthur (1953), under the name Ixodes theileri , a lapsus.
