Pérez Vigueras, I. (1934) On the ticks of Cuba, with description of a new species, Amblyomma torrei from Cyclura macleayi Gray. Psyche , 41, 13–18.

Type depositories: not stated: holotype? (male) ( Pérez Vigueras 1934); USNPC (as “type”) (Guglielmone et al. 2014); MCZ: paratypes (males)

Type locality: Havana, Cuba

Type host: Cyclura macleayi

Comments: Guglielmone et al. (2014) listed the paratype and “type” above, but there is no indication that more than one specimen was used in the description by Pérez Vigueras (1934). Bequaert, J. added a note at the end of the paper by Pérez Vigueras (1934), stating that two males collected in Cuba, but at a locality separate from the type locality of Amblyomma torrei , were compared with a paratype of Amblyomma torrei sent by Pérez Vigueras and found to be identical. Nevertheless, it is uncertain whether a true paratype is deposited in the MCZ.

Guglielmone et al. (2020, 2021) found differences between the morphological descriptions of Amblyomma torrei , and Guglielmone et al. (2021) treated data for Amblyomma torrei as provisional.
