Type depository: ZMB?: holotype (female); undetermined collection: paratypes (males, females, nymphs and larvae)

Type locality: Campo , Cameroon

Type host: “mwack,” a mongoose-like animal ( Keirans et al. 1982)

Comments: Schulze (1943) stated that the holotype female would be deposited in the ZMB. Schulze (1943) also described the male, nymph and larva of Ixodes vanidicus but did not indicate any depository for them. No specimen of Ixodes vanidicus is listed in the catalog of ZMB types by Moritz & Fischer (1981), and Keirans et al. (1982) stated that the types of Ixodes vanidicus are missing, therefore implying the existence of paratypes for this species.
