Type depository: USNTC: holotype (nymph) and paratypes (larvae) ( Keirans & Clifford 1984)
Type locality: 3 km east of Cardona , Department of Soriano, Uruguay
Type host: Scapteromys tumidus
Current status: a synonym of Ixodes longiscutatus , as discussed in Venzal et al. (2001).
Comments: Keirans & Clifford (1984) did not specify the developmental stages held in the USNTC, but Ixodes uruguayensis was described from a nymph (holotype) and five larvae (paratypes) ( Kohls & Clifford 1967).
