Type locality: Driehoek Ranch , near West Nicholson, Gwanda District, Zimbabwe
Type host: cattle
Comments: Rhipicephalus zambeziensis was described from laboratory-reared specimens originating from ticks collected from cattle, whose larvae and nymphs were fed on rabbits, while adult ticks were fed on Friesland steers ( Walker et al. 1981).
