Type depository: ZMB: syntypes (a male and a female) ( Moritz & Fischer 1981)

Type locality: “ Gora , New Cameroon,” probably in Chad or in the Central African Republic ( Apanaskevich & Horak 2008a)

Type host: buffalo

Comments: Apanaskevich and Horak (2008a) stated that Hyalomma nitidum may be conspecific with Hyalomma truncatum .
