Type locality: Shonla , Vietnam, but corrected to Africa in Kolonin (2003)
Type host: Python molorus bivittatus
Current status: a synonym of Africaniella orlovi and its original name, as discussed in Hornok et al. (2020), who also established the current status of Aponomma orlovi .
Comments : this tick was originally treated as found in Vietnam (Oriental Zoogeographic Region), but this was reassessed by Kolonin (2003), who concluded that the type locality is an undetermined locality in Africa (Afrotropical Zoogeographic Region) .
