Type depositories: ZMA: a lectotype (male) and paralectotypes (males), BMNH: a paralectotype (male) ( Santos Dias 1993, Keirans & Hillyard 2001). The lectotype and paralectotypes were designated by Santos Dias (1993) Type locality: Fakfak, New Guinea, Indonesia

Type host: Zaglossus bruyni nigroaculeatus

Current status: a synonym of Bothriocroton oudemansi and its original name ( Beati et al. 2008). The current status of Aponomma oudemansi , as Bothriocroton oudemansi , was also established by Beati et al. (2008).

Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2001) listed the type locality as being in Papua New Guinea .
