Type depositories: USNTC: holotype? (male) and paratypes (males and females) ; INTA, MCN? and BMNH?: paratypes (males and females)
Type locality: Lesser , Department Capital, Province of Salta, Argentina
Type host: cattle
Comments: in their catalog of BMNH types, Keirans & Hillyard (2001) did not list specimens of Ixodes pararicinus , and Onofrio et al. (2014) were unable to find the holotype of I. pararicinus in the USNTC as well as some paratypes deposited in that collection and the MCN.
