Current status: a synonym of Ixodes ricinus , as proposed by Neumann (1901) and accepted by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature with Neumann as first reviser.
Comments: the name Acarus reduvius and its synonyms have been used in the past for related and unrelated tick species worldwide ( Guglielmone & Nava 2014).
