Type locality: “ Congo ”

Type host: Hyrax sp.

Comments: no specimens of Ixodes rasus are listed by Moritz & Fischer (1981) as held in the ZMB. Guglielmone et al. (2020) stated that the morphological and molecular definitions of Ixodes rasus need reevaluation, and redescriptions of the type specimens should prove valuable in this regard.
