Type locality: south west shore of Lake Malawi, Malawi
Type host: Heterohyrax brucei manningi
Current status: a synonym of Haemaphysalis orientalis and its original name ( Keirans & Brewster 1981). The current status of Haemaphysalis hoodi orientalis , as Haemaphysalis orientalis , was established by Hoogstraal (1956b).
