Comments: on page 25 of Keirans & Hillyard (2001) it is stated under the sub-heading “ TYPE SERIES ” that Ixodes hexagonus was described from an unknown number of syntypes. This is followed by the subheading “ TYPE MATERIAL,” where the authors state that a presumed holotype (female) of this species is held in the BMNH.
