Type depository: BMNH: syntypes (males) ( Keirans & Hillyard 2001)
Type localities: Bolivia , and Cuenca, Ecuador
Type host: tapir
Comments: one of the males deposited in the BMNH as Amblyomma incisum is, in fact, Amblyomma scalpturatum ( Labruna et al. 2005) , and this tick was treated as the probable holotype of Amblyomma scalpturatum in Guglielmone et al. (2014), but that species was described from two females.
