Bishopp, F.C. (1911) Some new North American Ixodidae with notes on other species. Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 24, 197–208.

Type depositories: USNTC: lectotype (female) and paralectotype (males and females); MCZ: a paralectotype (female) ( Keirans & Clifford 1978, Keirans & Clifford 1984)

Type locality: Meeteetse , Wyoming, USA

Type host: Taxidea taxus

Comments: Bishopp (1911) described the male and female of Ixodes kingi selected from a lot of several adults, nymphs and larvae.A lectotype female was selected by Keirans & Clifford (1978); therefore, the remaining males and female ticks are treated here as paralectotypes. Nevertheless, Keirans & Clifford (1984) stated that “ paralectotypes ” (developmental stages not provided) are deposited in the USNTC.
