Prakasan, K. & Ramani, M. (2007) Two new species of ixodid ticks ( Acarina : Ixodida ) from Kerala, India. International Journal of Zoological Research, 3, 169–177.
Type depository: DA: the holotype, paratypes or syntypes are not specifically indicated in the original description ( Guglielmone et al. 2020)
Type locality: Kerala, India
Type host: buffalo
Comments: Nosomma keralensis is treated as a name incertae sedis by Schachat et al. (2018). In fact, this name can be considered invalid because it was published after 1999, when the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature began requiring designation of a holotype or expressly indicated syntypes. Nosomma keralensis is treated as provisionally valid in Guglielmone & Nava (2014), Guglielmone et al. (2014, 2023) and here.
