Type localities: Baurú and Jacutinga, State of São Paulo, Brazil

Type hosts: Cervus campestris and Cervus rufus

Current status: Haemaphysalis kochi , a preoccupied name, was renamed Haemaphysalis kohlsi by Aragão & Fonseca (1951), and both names are synonyms of Haemaphysalis juxtakochi ( Guglielmone et al. 2021) .
