aculeata Lavarra, 1904 View in CoL , Haemaphysalis

Lavarra, L. (1904) Sopra una nuova specie di Haemaphysalis . Bolletino della Società Zoologica Italiana , 5, 255– 258.

Type depositories: BMNH: a lectotype (male) was designated by Trapido (1965); ENV and MZU: paralectotypes (males) ( Trapido 1965, although not named as paralectotypes)

Type locality: India

Type host: Tragulus meminna

Comments: Keirans & Hillyard (2001) listed the type locality as “Bodd, Indonesia,” but Haemaphysalis aculeata is not found in Indonesia ( Guglielmone et al. 2023). The abbreviation “Bodd.” was probably used by Lavarra (1904) for Boddaert and his redescription of Tragulus meminna in Boddaert (1784). Keirans & Hillyard (2001) considered the type host to be Tragulus javanicus or Tragulus napu .
