Type host: Redunca arundinum
Current status: a synonym of Haemaphysalis rugosa and its original name, as discussed in Hoogstraal & El Kammah (1972). The current status of Haemaphysalis aciculifer rugosa , as Haemaphysalis rugosa , was also established by Hoogstraal & El Kammah (1972).
Comments: contrary to the above-cited authors, Keirans & Hillyard (2001) did not recognize the presence of the holotype of Haemaphysalis aciculifer rugosa in their list of types deposited in the BMNH .
