Current status: a nomen dubium ( Guglielmone & Nava 2014).
Comments: the name Ixodes bibroni Gervais, 1844 , has been applied as Amblyomma bibroni ( Gervais, 1844) by some workers, instead of Amblyomma dissimile , but this is unjustified. In other cases the name Amblyomma bibroni (Gervais, 1842) has been employed, but this is a nomen nudum, as discussed in Guglielmone & Nava (2014) and Guglielmone et al. (2021).
