Type host: Procavia brucei ( Nuttall & Warburton 1911)
Comments: this species is based on a specimen classified by Nuttall & Warburton (1911) as Ixodes ugandanus djaronensis . Keirans (1985) did not recognize Ixodes brumpti as valid and classified this specimen as Ixodes procaviae . Morel (1965b) named the type host as Heterohyrax brucei .
