Type depository: ZMUC: holotype (male), but lost ( Nava et al. 2014a)

Type locality: Cayenne , French Guiana

Type host: unknown

Current status: a synonym of Amblyomma cajennense and its original name ( Nava et al. 2014a).

Comments: see Amblyomma cajennense for the designation of a neotype under that name. The specimen deposited in the ZMUC as Acarus cajennensis is, in fact, the specimen of Acarus lineatus ( Nava et al. 2014a).
